My name is Kevin Padula.  I grew up and went to college in South County, Rhode Island and am infatuated with the state.

I am not a historian but simply a man who loves telling people stories about Rhode Island history.  For the past several years my poor wife has been forced to listen to these tales but I've made the admirable decision to spare her from this torment.  Instead I will now use this podcast to share these stories.  My wife is thrilled with my decision and I hope you are as well.

The Story of Rhode Island Podcast is my humble attempt to tell you about Rhode Island's fascinating history.  I want to take you to the places, introduce you to the people, and put you in the middle of the events that have made Rhode Island that state it is today. 

The only reason I'm able to tell these tales is because of the historians who have written extensively about Rhode Island's history.  If this podcast achieves any level of success then it's largely due to the work they've done.  I encourage you to check out their work which can be found at the end of each episode page.
